A 37-year-old Honomu man is in police custody after turning himself in at the Kona police station in connection with a reported robbery Thursday afternoon in Pepeekeo.

A 37-year-old Honomu man is in police custody after turning himself in at the Kona police station in connection with a reported robbery Thursday afternoon in Pepeekeo.

Investigation of the 1 p.m. robbery at the Hamakua Coast Community Federal Credit Union led to the identity of the man who turned himself in around 6 p.m. Thursday, according to the Hawaii Police Department. West Hawaii Today is not identifying the man who was arrested on suspicion of robbery, theft and terroristic threatening because he hasn’t been charged with a crime.

The 37-year-old was then moved to the Hilo police cellblock, where he remains in custody while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continue the investigation.
